Biography

Hong Xu is a researcher, advocate and doer of transdisciplinary research and cross-culture communication. Hong's research considers how our societies can adapt to and benefit from changes based on the underlying power relations and cultural values that are integral to social change and to the institutional dynamics that mediate human-environment and human-human relations. His current studies focus on investigating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mathematics and sciences. Hong is also interested in global Indigenous Sciences, sustainable natural resource management, trade-offs issues between conservation and development, as well as just transitions to achieve carbon neutral and sustainable development. Hong leads research in cutting-edge transdisciplinary studies, including just transition, policy analytics, sustainable rural development, digital currency, performance legitimacy and social media analysis.

Hong Xu is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Mathematical Sciences Institute and a Ph.D. scholar at the Fenner School of Environment and Society at The Australian National University (from October 2018). He undertook studies in environmental management and sustainable governance at The Australian National University and was award a Master of Environment (advanced) in September 2018. Also, he undertook studies in environmental engineering at Renmin University of China and was awarded a B.E. (Hons) in June 2016.
