Zem Wang is a PhD Candidate at the Research School of Economics, specializing in macro finance and the Chinese economy. His research utilizes advanced econometric techniques to analyze policy-relevant economic issues. His doctoral thesis focuses on recent developments in China's financial system, including the shadow banking system, financial liberalization, unconventional macroeconomic management policies, and improved nowcasting models for China.

Zem also has extensive teaching experience in econometrics, business forecasting, and mathematical techniques for economics. His classes have received high ratings from students. He is passionate about educating students in econometrics and applied macroeconomics, bringing data analysis techniques to real-world economic scenarios.
