Research interests

The southern dispersals of Homo sapiens; the evolution of human cognition and sociality; the dispersal of Afro-Asiatic languages


Ceri studied at the University of Cambridge, doing his research degrees on the Acheulean of India.  He excavated for the Museum of London and spent six months in Papua New Guinea on the PNG LNG project.  He has since worked at the Universities of Queensland, Oxford, and Cambridge, on research projects in East Africa, Arabia, India, and Polynesia, and on periods from the Lower Palaeolithic to the Neolithic.
