Research interests

Building digital Earth models that connect the surface and the interior of our planet. The timescales involved run over "deep time" - from present-day to hundreds of millions of years in the past. Particular focus on:
  • Plate tectonic reconstructions, including the polar and Pacific regions
  • Palaeogeography, including the interplay of tectonics with oceans and climate
  • Mantle structure and evolution, including the history of subduction and large-scale volcanism

Also interested in science communication and data visualization:

  • Use of scientific colours e.g. https://zenodo.org/record/8035877
  • Open data and figure sharing e.g. https://s-ink.org/
