Biography

Dr Matt Rutar completed his PhD at ANU in neuroimmunology, and now holds a postdoctoral position at the JCSMR within the Eccles Insitute of Neuroscience. His work has focused on better understanding the immunological mechanisms which underscore the health of our eyes in ageing and disease. His innovative research has featured prominately on both national and international stages, including invited presentations at premier conferences including The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), International Society for Eye Research (ISER), and the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO). Dr Rutar is also an advocate of community engagement through his involvement in the Young Visionaries program at ARC Centre for Excellence in Vision Research, and contributions to EMBL Australia.
