Research interests

His research interests encompass contemporary and new media art in the Sinophone region (China, Taiwan, Hong Kong), cultural studies, post-humanism, new materialism, queer theory, and the philosophy of technology.

Biography

Gabriel Remy-Handfield holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Montreal, Canada where he completed his doctoral dissertation on new media artist Lu Yang. He has published peer-reviewed articles both in French and in English in journals including Voix Plurielles, Études Francophones, and Screen Bodies. In 2022, he has also co-edited a special issue on Lu Yang with Dr. Livia Monnet and Dr. Ari Heinrich in the Journal Screen Bodies.
