Biography

 

Clinical Associate Professor Stephanie Phillips graduated from the University of Newcastle in 1984. Her specialist anaesthetic training in London, included Higher Specialist Training in paediatric anaesthesia at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, cardiothoracic anaesthesia at the Brompton National Heart & Lung Hospital and neurosurgical anaesthesia at Atkinson Morley’s Hospital. She joined Northern Specialist Anaesthetics in 1996 and is currently the managing director. Her regular clinical work involves major upper gastrointestinal, colorectal and endoscopic procedures.

She was the Deputy Head of School, Academic Lead for Education, and Critical Care Co-ordinator of the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School of the University of Sydney for 10 years before joinign ANU. She was the inaugural  Chair of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists Science, Prizes, Awards, Research Committee and a non-executive director of  CHESS Engineering Ltd. Dr Phillips is a veteran of over 10  international aid missions to Nepal and Laos.

Her research interests and publications focus on reducing morbidity related to anaesthesia. She is based at Sydney Adventist Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital and the University of Sydney. and the Australian National University.
