Will works as a policy officer in the International Division of the Department of Education. Having graduated in modern history and politics at the University of Melbourne, he undertook a master's degree and a doctorate at the ANU, focusing on modern Chinese studies and comparative literature. During this period, he studied in Beijing and Taipei and was also a visiting researcher in the Center for Chinese Studies at the Taiwan National Central Library in 2019. At the ANU, he was involved in cultural linguistics and literary translation courses.

Researcher's projects

Will's current work focuses on the literary criticism of the prominent Chinese author Can Xue, who was one of the earliest writers of the avant-garde or xianfengpai movement and has spearheaded the introduction of new literary forms into contemporary Chinese fiction from the 1980s onwards.
