Biography

  • Peter pursued a career with the Australian government for 38 years, mainly with the Department of Immigration, retiring as Deputy Secretary (Policy Group) in 2011
  • Peter has over 30 years experience in the development and implementation of Australian and international migration and refugee policies, including associated policies related to compliance, integration, citizenship and multicultural affairs.
  • Peter represented Australia extensively in international migration and humanitarian forums
  • In 2011–12 He chaired the Australian Government's Access and Equity Enquiry Panel
  • in 2012 he was inaugural chair of the Australian Government's Tuition Protection Service Advisory Board
  • Peter is a Fellow of the Centre for Policy Development and in that capacity an active member of the Asia Dialogue on Forced Migration
