Babatunde Obamamoye commenced his doctoral studies in the Department of International Relations, Coral Bell School of Asia and the Pacific, the Australian National University (ANU) in June 2018. His current research interests focus on non-Western liberal interventions and peacebuilding with a geographical concentration on Africa. Specifically, his ongoing doctoral research explores and explains the agency of postcolonial African regional actors in the practice of liberal interventions, with particular focus on Somalia, South Sudan and The Gambia. Through this project, he aims to offer theoretical insights into a broader puzzle of why some non-Western interveners are operationalising their commitment to the liberal peace project despite its growing characterisation as a Western neo-imperialist project.
