Research interests

Anne's particular research focus includes the European Union as a legal system, comparative aspects of the EU and the Asia-Pacific region and the Europeanisation of private law, particularly in the areas of contract, property and commercial law. 

Biography

Anne McNaughton is a Senior Lecturer in the ANU College of Law at the Australian National University, Canberra. She is  an Adjunct of the ANU Centre for European Studies where she was Deputy Director from June 2015 - January 2017.  Anne has degrees in Arts and Law and a Master of Laws from Eberhard-Karls University in Tuebingen, Germany.  She wrote her thesis on the incorporation of the territory of former German Democratic Republic into the European Communities following reunification of Germany in 1990.  Anne researches and teaches in the field of private law, particularly contract law and commercial law; comparative law; the law and politics of European integration; and the legal architecture of the of the European Union.  She is a Fellow of the European Law Institute and a corresponding member of the Principles of European Insurance Contract Law (PEICL) and Principles of Reinsurance Contract Law (PRICL).  Anne is one of the Australian Board Members of the German-Australian-Pacific Lawyers Association (GAPLA). She is also a member of the Law Council of Australia.
