  • Quantum Information, Computation And Communication 020603

Research interests

Optical spectroscopy of impurity ions and defects in transparent solids.

Optically active centres in solids for quantum information processing

Biography

Expertise in high resolution laser spectroscopy with 200 published papers.

Researcher's projects

Interest in optically active defects and impurity centres in solids with applications for quantum information processing. Current activity includes development of rare earth ion impurities devices for quantum computing and quantum computing. There is also interest in the nitrogen-vacancy centre in diamond. It has applications for room temperature quantum information processing, for magnetometry and as a biological probe but our motive is to understanding the intrinsic properties of centre.
