Research interests

•The histories of Buddhism, gender, sexuality, and globalisation in Thailand

•Queer theory, postcolonial analysis, and critiques of Eurocentrism


Peter A. Jackson has written extensively on modern Thai cultural history with special interests in religion, sexuality, and critical theoretical approaches to mainland Southeast Asian cultural history.  He currently holds an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant for the project “Critical Thought in Thailand After Marxism” and is consultant for the “Cultural Pluralism and Sexual Diversity in Thailand” project at the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre in Bangkok.  His current book project is titled Queer Sex and Identity in Thai History.
