Bina completed her PhD in 2006 in Sociology and Demography at the Pennsylvania State University, U.S.A. She has had two years post-doctoral experience at the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore, where she worked on various projects relating to the changing family in Asia. From 2009 to 2010 she was at the Social Policy Research Centre, University of New South Wales where was involved in Australian projects on housing costs and the living standards of the elderly, the relationship between parental socioeconomic status and children's well-being, and an international project on child poverty and disparities in Vanuatu. At ADSRI, she will be working on the Childhood Adversity project with Bryan Rodgers.
