French cinema (heritage cinema and historical film); Italian literature and film, Adaptation (literary adaptation, artist biopic, autobiographical film), Auteurism; Stardom; the Nineteenth century and World War One in cinema; Historical thinking and cultural memory through film.

I joined the Australian National University in 2017 to pursue further research into heritage cinema and historical film, following completion of my PhD in French Studies from the University of Sydney.  I have published several articles inspired from my original thesis 'Living the Past through French Heritage Film: Historical Thinking and Cinematic Cultural Memory'.  In addition to my research, I have also taught French language and culture as a Sessional Lecturer at ANU.  During my doctorate, I was an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) recipient and I was also awarded Sydney University doctoral travel grants to undertake archival research at the Paris Cinémathèque and the Bibliothèque nationale de France and to present a conference paper at the UK Society for French Studies.  Prior to my PhD, I undertook a BA French (Hons) at the University of London, where I achieved First Class Honours, specialising in French Cinema and Literature.

At ANU, I am continuing my research into heritage cinema and historical film towards publication of future journal articles and scholarly books. I am researching and writing a book on 'The First World War in French Cinema', which will consider the concept of historical thinking in relation to French heritage and historical films of the conflict through silent cinema, early sound films, classic cinema, modern and contemporary films.  My work also explores literary adaptations and artists biopics in French and Italian film.

I specialise in teaching French and Italian language and culture (history, literature, cinema).  I have taught introductory to intermediate levels of French and Italian at the ANU Centre for Learning and Teaching in Continuing Education.  I have also taught introductory French (FREN1003 and FREN1004) and Continuing French (FREN2024) with the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics at ANU. In addition, I've taught introductory to advanced levels of French at the University of Sydney and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
