Biography

Dr Ivana Damjanovic is a Visiting Research Fellow at the ANU Centre for European Studies and a Lecturer at the Canberra Law School. Her research is interdisciplinary, exploring the influence of globalisation and politics on international law. She completed her PhD at ANU in 2020, examining the reform of international investment governance and the role of the European Union in influencing normative standards in this reform. 

Ivana has qualified as a lawyer in Australia and Europe (Croatia) and has expertise in international law and international relations. She has taught law as a guest lecturer at universities in Asia (China, Bhutan, Indonesia) and Europe (Belgium, Croatia). Ivana has provided training to Australian government and industry stakeholders on EU trade and investment law and policy, and has presented her research at different conferences in Australia, Europe (Luxembourg, Brussels, Maastricht), Asia (Tokyo, Shanghai, Bangkok) and the US (Yale University). Her professional background encompasses engagement with the Delegation of the European Union to Australia, consultancy work and nine years as a career diplomat for Croatia.
