Biography

I am Director of Studies of the Military and Defence Studies Program at the Australian Command and Staff Course. My areas of interest are classical strategy and Professional Military Education.

I am on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Further and Higher Education, an international journal concerned with all aspects of higher education, and I review submissions for a range of higher education journals.

After completing my PhD in contemporary Australian autobiography at UNSW, I spent nearly a decade in university administration and management at ANU and the University of Tasmania. I returned to academic work in 2013.

Researcher's projects

Currently researching:

(1) reading Thucydides through the lens of Foucault's theories of power and knowledge.

(2) professional military education and learning identities.

Current student projects

PhD project: Command and Leadership at Suvla Bay, 1915.

PhD project: British Strategy in the Iraq War.

Masters project: The Destruction of Art in War.

Masters project: Decision-making, Moral Injury and Strategy.
